Denver tied its daily record high temperature as an unseasonable early October heatwave swept across Colorado’s Front Range.

The official reading at Denver International Airport reached 87°F (30.5°C), tying the October 5 record previously set in 2024. Parts of the surrounding metro and Front Range area pushed even higher into the upper 80s and approached 90°F, which is roughly 15 to 17 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.

The unusually warm stretch is driven by a persistent high-pressure ridge and dry downsloping winds over the Rockies. Beyond bringing summer-like heat to autumn, the National Weather Service and local officials noted increased dry conditions and heightened fire danger across eastern Colorado, with temperatures expected to remain near-record levels heading into midweek.
