jim bakker: Why is this trending now

Jim Bakker is trending because his death at age 86 was announced by his family. His wife, Lori Bakker, confirmed that the controversial televangelist passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Bakker was best known for co-founding the massive “PTL Club” television network and the Heritage USA Christian theme park alongside his former wife, Tammy Faye Bakker, in the 1970s and 1980s. Their multimillion-dollar empire collapsed in the late 1980s following high-profile sex and financial fraud scandals, which led to Bakker serving nearly five years in federal prison. In his later years, he re-emerged on television with “The Jim Bakker Show,” focusing on end-times prophecies and survivalist gear.
