Joshua Kerry, the 28-year-old man charged with the murder of former politician and Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court facing an additional charge of preparing acts of terrorism.
Prosecutors alleged that Kerry conducted research into prominent public figures and institutions between May 2024 and July 2026, which included locating the private home address of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. According to the prosecution:
Kerry allegedly went to Farage’s south London home in April 2025 and attempted to force entry.
Forensic examination identified tool marks on the door frame from a 27mm single-bladed edge, with prosecutors arguing an attempt was made to break in.
Kerry allegedly went armed with items including lighter fluid during the incident.
The incident at Farage’s property was initially investigated by the Metropolitan Police as an attempted burglary and later closed, before Counter Terrorism Policing reopened the case following Widdecombe’s death in July 2026 after identifying unpursued leads.
Kerry only spoke to confirm his name and details during the brief court appearance and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the Old Bailey.
