FBI stops Mall of America terror plot by 18-year-old after agents sold him assault rifle, tell me about this news today

Federal authorities announced they thwarted an alleged terror plot targeting the Mall of America in Minnesota.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, was arrested after allegedly attempting to acquire an assault rifle and ammunition as part of an ISIS-inspired attack plan. According to the criminal complaint and federal prosecutors, Mohamud had been under investigation for nearly two years, communicating with a confidential informant and later an undercover FBI employee.

Investigators stated that Mohamud shared intentions to carry out a mass casualty shooting. On Tuesday, he was arrested in a public park in Richfield, Minnesota, immediately after paying 600 dollars to an undercover FBI employee posing as an ISIS member for an AK-47 style rifle and 200 rounds of ammunition. He made his initial appearance in federal court on Wednesday.
