Michael Malone building a selfless basketball team at UNC, tell me about this news today

North Carolina men’s basketball coach Michael Malone has heavily emphasized a philosophy centered on building a deeply selfless, connected team culture as the Tar Heels prepare for the season.

Drawing from his extensive NBA backgroundincluding his years coaching stars like Nikola Jokic in Denver and LeBron James in ClevelandMalone has stressed the importance of recruiting and developing players who prioritize making their teammates better over individual statistics. Rather than relying strictly on conventional positional labels, he has focused on assembling versatile rosters filled with high-IQ “connectors” who share the basketball, keep the offense fluid, and eliminate selfish play to maximize team chemistry.
