Detroit Grocery Store Shooting Leaves One Dead and Another Injured

A fatal shooting at a Detroit grocery store on Friday afternoon resulted in one death and left another individual injured, sparking an active investigation by the Detroit Police Department.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. at King Cole Foods, located near Clairmount and Woodward avenues. Responding officers found bullet casings near the entrance and located an adult male victim suffering from severe gunshot wounds in the store’s vestibule. Emergency responders rushed the victim to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead. Shortly thereafter, a second victim with gunshot wounds arrived separately at an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

Investigators from the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Division have cordoned off the scene to collect evidence and review security camera footage. At this stage, authorities have not publicly identified the victims or released a description of a suspect. Detroit police urge anyone who was in the area or possesses information regarding the shooting to contact the DPD Homicide Unit or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
