Pregnant Journalist Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Assault During INDIA Bloc Protest

A political controversy erupted after Richa Parashar, a journalist who is in the first trimester of pregnancy, alleged that Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and his security personnel manhandled and shoved her during an INDIA bloc protest outside the Supreme Court in New Delhi.

The incident reportedly took place while Opposition leaders were staging a protest march concerning electoral rolls and the Election Commission. According to the reporter, she was covering the demonstration when the crowd surged. She alleged that Gandhi grabbed her hand, pulled her forward, and his security personnel pushed her, causing her to lose balance and fall onto the stairs. Parashar stated that her cameraperson and others in the crowd fell over her, damaging her equipment and causing physical injuries that led to her hospitalisation.

Following the allegations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders strongly condemned the alleged incident, accusing the Congress leadership of hypocrisy regarding women’s safety and demanding accountability. In response, Congress representatives dismissed the claims as politically motivated propaganda orchestrated by the BJP, denying any assault took place and asserting that the chaotic crowd movements were being misrepresented.
