Fatal E-Bike Crash in Fayetteville: Man Killed in Collision with SUV

An e-bike rider was killed following a collision with an SUV on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

According to preliminary reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred when an SUV traveling south on Gillespie Street attempted an evasive maneuver to avoid an approaching electric bicycle traveling in the opposite direction. Despite the driver’s attempt to steer clear, both vehicles collided.

Emergency responders pronounced the e-bike operator dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was not reported to have sustained injuries, remained at the scene following the impact, and has not been charged.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is leading the active crash investigation with assistance from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to determine the contributing factors surrounding the accident. Authorities have withheld the victim’s name pending next-of-kin notification.
