Punjab BJP Chief Dhillon Urges Governor Kataria to Order CBI Probe into Parminder Singh Jhota Murder

Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon has formally written to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria demanding an immediate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of prominent anti-drug crusader Parminder Singh Jhota.

The incident took place in Mansa, where Jhota was shot dead in broad daylight inside a local medical store while confronting a chemist over the illicit sale of synthetic narcotics. The fatal confrontation, which left his associate seriously injured, was captured live during a social media broadcast.

In his letter, Dhillon underscored that the broad-daylight killing exposes a breakdown in Punjab’s law-and-order apparatus. He expressed severe concern that grassroots activists risking their lives to combat the illicit drug trade lack basic security and protection. Arguing that local police investigations risk political interference and compromised oversight, the state BJP leadership urged Governor Kataria to intervene promptly and transfer the homicide inquiry to the CBI to ensure an impartial, transparent investigation and bring all culprits and associated drug cartels to justice.
