“Ladakh Integral Part, No Denial Can Change This”: India Counters China

India firmly rejected objections raised by China regarding geographical records in Ladakh, reiterating that the Union Territory of Ladakh is an “integral and inalienable part of India” and that no amount of denial by Beijing can alter this established reality.

The statement came via the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) following comments by the Chinese Foreign Ministry opposing India’s administrative initiative to assign standardized names to 28 strategic locations and geographical features across Ladakh. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning had earlier claimed the move was illegal, asserting that China does not recognize the Union Territory status established by India.

In response, New Delhi emphasized that updating official maps through the Survey of Indiadeveloped in consultation with local administrations and stakeholdersis an internal administrative measure aimed at improving clarity, public awareness, and territorial accuracy. India maintained that Beijing’s rhetoric cannot undermine India’s sovereign authority over the region.
