Rams Cut Kicker Harrison Mevis After Costly Overtime Field Goal Miss
The Los Angeles Rams have officially cut rookie kicker Harrison Mevis following a 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. Mevis, nicknamed the “Thiccer Kicker” during his college career at Missouri, struggled throughout the Week 5 contest, missing two critical field-goal attempts.
The tipping point occurred during overtime when Mevis lined up for a potential game-winning kick. Bills edge rusher Greg Rousseau penetrated the line and tipped the attempt, sealing the defeat for Los Angeles. Earlier in the game, Mevis had missed a 50-yard attempt, finishing the night 0-for-2.
In a corresponding roster move to stabilize special teams, the Rams signed former New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe off the New York Jets’ practice squad to take over kicking duties.
