Lynwood Man in Disbelief After Beloved Husky Found Hanging in Alley: Animal Cruelty Investigation Underway

A Lynwood family has been left devastated following what local authorities are calling a “horrific” case of animal cruelty. Filiberto Reyes, a resident of Lynwood, California, expressed utter disbelief and heartbreak after discovering that his 9-year-old Siberian husky, named Ruso, was found hanged in a nearby alley.

Details of the Incident

According to Reyes and local reports, the tragedy unfolded around early October near the 3500 block of Magnolia Avenue. Witnesses and neighbors reported seeing an unidentified man and woman outside the fence of Reyes’ property, where Ruso had been resting in the yard. Neighbors stated that the individuals agitated and mistreated the dog before using food to lure him away from the secure perimeter.

Shortly afterward, graphic video footage surfaced on social media showing Ruso hanged by a leash from a metal security door in an alley behind a local business. Reyes confirmed the dog in the viral video was his pet, adding that the leash and collar visible in the footage did not belong to him. Describing Ruso as an outgoing companion who was treated like family, Reyes remarked that such brutality felt unreal and dangerous to the entire community.

Sheriff’s Department Launching Search for Suspects

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Century Station and local animal control authorities have opened an active, relentless investigation into the killing. Investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and following leads to identify the persons responsible. Detectives noted they are seeking to locate individuals seen in proximity to the dog around the time of the incident.

Animal welfare organizations, including the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, have amplified calls for public assistance. Anyone with details, security footage, or tips regarding the incident is urged to contact LASD detectives or submit anonymous tips through LA Crime Stoppers.
