Why Shai Hope is Trending: Record-Breaking T20I Form and Milestones Against India
West Indies captain Shai Hope is trending globally across sports media after delivering historic, back-to-back batting masterclasses against India in their T20I series.
Surpassing Chris Gayle with Historic T20I Centuries
Hope entered the cricket record books by becoming the first West Indian batter to hit three international T20 centuries, officially surpassing West Indies batting legends Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis (two each). In the fourth T20I in Hyderabad, Hope powered West Indies to a mammoth total of 247/3 with an unbeaten 102 off just 50 deliveries. Statistically, all three of his career T20I hundreds have ended on an unbeaten 102.
Record-Breaking Chase in Ranchi
His trending surge follows another unbeaten 102 in the second match of the series in Ranchi, where Hope spearheaded the highest successful run chase against India in T20I history and the highest in West Indies history. Overhauling a target of 250 in just 18.3 overs, his explosive knock solidified his status as an all-format powerhouse.
Squad Rotation and Test Rest
Adding to fan discussion and trending searches, Cricket West Indies confirmed Hope will be rested for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh. The decision aims to manage his workload following intense white-ball campaigns and heavy international scheduling.
