Connecticut Army National Guard Soldiers Welcomed Home in Hartford Ceremony
Hundreds of Connecticut Army National Guard soldiers were officially welcomed home during a ceremony held at the Governor William A. O’Neill State Armory in Hartford, marking the successful conclusion of an extensive overseas deployment.
The returning service members, primarily from the 1st Battalion, 102nd Infantry Regiment, completed a demanding nine-month deployment that spanned 22 locations across seven countries. Operating in dynamic and high-threat environments, troops faced complex modern combat conditions, including proximity to missile and counter-drone engagements. Despite the operational hazards, all personnel returned home safely.
FOX 61+ 1State officials, military leaders, and families gathered at the Hartford armory to honor the citizen-soldiers, whose civilian careers across Connecticut include nursing, education, law enforcement, and skilled trades. During the ceremony, several soldiers were formally decorated for valor and meritorious service, including the presentation of three Purple Hearts and 48 Bronze Star Medals. The event highlighted both the operational readiness of the Connecticut National Guard and the community support essential to facilitating their transition back to civilian life.
