Wichita Soccer Game Crash Leaves Boy and Man Dead, 10 Injured at Stryker Sports Complex

A 6-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man were killed, and at least 10 other people were injured, after a pickup truck drove directly through an active youth soccer match at the Stryker Sports Complex in northeast Wichita, Kansas.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon during a tournament involving several youth teams. Authorities reported that a 34-year-old woman, who had a child participating in a match on another field at the facility, drove a truck onto the pitch where families and spectators were gathered. Two minors were also inside the vehicle as passengers during the collision.

Both the young boy and the adult male were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported 10 individuals to area hospitals with traumatic injuries ranging from minor to severe, though officials noted none appeared to be life-threatening. The injured victims include five childrenages 5, 8, and 9as well as five adults. An eleventh person was hospitalized for a non-traumatic medical evaluation.

Bystanders and spectators immediately rushed to administer first aid before emergency personnel arrived to take over triage and patient care.

The driver was taken into custody at the complex and is cooperating with investigators. The Wichita Police Department, along with traffic collision reconstruction teams, continues to investigate the exact cause and circumstances behind the crash to determine potential charges.
