(Logan Allen) , what is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?
04-09-2026
The Logan Allen trending on social media today is Logan Taylor Allen, the left-handed pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians (not the actor from Sweet Magnolias or the other MLB pitcher of the same name now in Korea). cbssports.comGuardians manager Stephen Vogt named him the starter for Game 1 of Friday’s doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field. The team is sitting at 70-70 and fighting for a wild-card spot in a tight AL race, so many fans viewed the choice as risky. Allen has spent most of 2026 shuttling between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus. He had made only one prior start this season and had worked exclusively out of the bullpen since mid-August. He also entered the day with a 0-3 record and 7.00 ERA in four career starts against Detroit. reuters.comThe outing quickly went south. The Tigers jumped on him for four runs in the first inning and added another in the second. By the time he left after two innings he had allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks. Guardians fans on X immediately started posting frustrated reactions about starting him in a “stretch-drive” game, calling the decision unserious and joking (or not-so-jokingly) that the season was already over. sportsdata.usatoday.comThat’s the entire story: a playoff-contending team handed the ball to a pitcher many supporters consider unreliable against a division rival, and the results were immediately poor, sparking the day’s wave of complaints.
