Dumpster-diving bear gets scooped up by garbage truck south of Denver, tell me about this news in (https://www.denverpost.com/2026/09/21/bear-trash-truck-castle-rock/)

In Castle Rock, south of Denver, a black bear looking for food ended up taking an unexpected ride after climbing inside a trash dumpster.

While the bear was rummaging inside, a Waste Management truck arrived on its collection route and hoisted the container to empty it, accidentally scooping the bear directly into the truck.

Shortly after, the bear emerged on top of the vehicle. When the driver parked in a nearby lot, bystander and security footage captured the bear perched atop the truck before carefully climbing down to the ground. The animal ran off into nearby brush seemingly unharmed.

Wildlife officials frequently cite incidents like this during late summer and early autumn, when bears enter a period of extreme eating called hyperphagia to build fat stores for winter, reminding residents in bear-prone areas to keep dumpsters and trash receptacles firmly secured.
