Eli Lilly broke ground on a massive $6.5 billion manufacturing facility at Generation Park in Houston, Texas. The roughly 240-acre project is planned to be operational by 2030 and is part of the company’s broader $50 billion domestic manufacturing push to reshore medicine production.

The state-of-the-art campus will focus on producing active pharmaceutical ingredients for Foundayo, Eli Lilly’s oral GLP-1 weight-management medication, alongside other small-molecule medicines, advanced therapeutics, and oligonucleotides. The build-out is expected to create around 4,000 construction jobs and more than 600 permanent positions in engineering, quality control, and skilled trades once operational. Additionally, the initiative includes funding and support for workforce training pathways and student scholarships at San Jacinto College.
