CNN, MS NOW, and Politico filed a joint lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s administration after their reporters were barred from entering the White House and had their press badges deactivated or confiscated.

The ban was enacted following the president’s announcements on social media and during remarks where he accused the outlets of publishing “fake news” and expressed dissatisfaction with their coverage. In response, the news organizations argue that the selective revocation of their press credentials is an unconstitutional retaliation and a blatant violation of the First Amendment rights protecting a free press. They filed the lawsuit in a U.S. district court seeking an immediate temporary restraining order to restore their access while the legal battle proceeds.
