(Penix) What is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?
25-09-2026
Michael Penix Jr., the Atlanta Falcons quarterback, made his 2026 season debut last night after missing the first two games while recovering from a torn ACL suffered in November 2025. The team named him the starter for Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers following poor performances by backup quarterbacks that left Atlanta at 0-2 with a struggling offense.Penix had been ramping up in practice without setbacks and told coaches he felt ready after a strong weekend workout. In the game he delivered an efficient stretch, completing 13 of 15 passes with a touchdown in the second and third quarters and going a perfect 5-for-5 on third down during that span. The Falcons’ offense looked sharper with him under center, prompting widespread discussion about his return, the team’s quarterback situation, and hopes for a turnaround. The conversation mixed football analysis with the inevitable wordplay around his last name, which has long been a source of jokes among fans. That combination of a high-profile primetime return and the ready-made puns is what pushed the topic across social media.
