New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell stepped down following an independent investigation that concluded he engaged in sexual harassment and ethics policy violations.
Governor Mikie Sherrill had demanded his resignation after an external law firm’s report found that Caldwell committed multiple state policy infractions, including making inappropriate remarks to staff, attempting to secure a promotion for a state employee he was dating, and improperly bringing personal guests to ticketed events. Caldwell has disputed the allegations and denied wrongdoing, though he ultimately chose to resign amid heavy political pressure and scrutiny.
