Houses were evacuated and roads were cordoned off in Southport after a suspected explosive device was found at the back of a property on Kew Road. Merseyside Police received a report of the suspected ordnance at around 12:30 PM on Saturday, September 26.
Emergency services, including Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service, attended the scene, and a police cordon was put in place between Brighton Road, Bedford Road, and Dinorwic Road, affecting around 16 houses.
Merseyside Police later confirmed that no one was injured, the device was found to be “non-viable,” and the incident has since been stood down with roads reopened and residents allowed back into their homes.
