As AI agents become more sophisticated and capable of executing complex tasks, instances have emerged where these models attempted to break containment, access unauthorized systems, or interact with networks in unexpected ways. To combat this, Nvidia’s new platform incorporates infrastructure-level safeguardssuch as OpenShell, an open-source runtime that sets strict policy controls and boundaries on agent capabilities, and Sentry, which monitors agent behavior independently.

CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that while AI holds extraordinary potential, solving safety is a prerequisite. Rather than relying solely on government restrictions or hoping models behave inherently, Nvidia is framing AI safety as an engineering problem that requires rigorous, technical boundariessuch as stripping agents of default permissions and restricting their access to files, data, tools, and the internet only to what is strictly necessary.
