In a previous episode, Kylie extended an open invitation for Kate to appear on her podcast to chat about their shared background in field hockey and raising kids. During that invite, however, Kylie referred to her informally as “Princess Kate” and used her outdated title, “Duchess of Cambridge”.

After royal watchers pointed out the protocol missteps, Kylie addressed the feedback in a follow-up episode, playfully explaining that she loves learning and was completely unaware that referring to Catherine as “Princess Kate” could be considered offensive or improper. She then offered an apology, promising to address her properly as “Princess Catherine” or “The Princess of Wales” going forward. The lighthearted exchange quickly caught fire across social media and entertainment outlets due to the overlap between the NFL family and royal pop-culture circles.
