(chip city) Why is this trending now

Chip City is trending right now because the popular gourmet cookie chain abruptly announced it is permanently closing all of its remaining locations nationwide.

The brand, famous for its massive six-ounce cookies and rotating flavor drops, rapidly expanded in recent years to dozens of storefronts across several states. However, company leadership informed staff that operations would cease immediately across all remaining shops. The sudden shutdown has gone viral across social media and restaurant news outlets as consumers and industry observers react to the abrupt end of the brand amidst a wider cooldown in the viral cookie and specialty dessert market.
