Kat Dennings revealed in a TikTok video that she successfully pushed back against filming an uncomfortable scene during the early seasons of her hit CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls.

During a table read for a season one or two episode, Dennings and her co-star Beth Behrs came across a script direction where their characters, Max and Caroline, were supposed to run around their apartment set wearing only bras.

Though she admitted she did not have much professional leverage or pull at the time since the show was brand new and successful, Dennings decided to speak directly with showrunner Michael Patrick King after the read. She asked him to either remove the scene entirely or have the actors wear clothes. When King initially insisted that the script remain as written, Dennings firmly asserted herself by telling him, “You don’t pay me enough for a bra scene.”

Her boundary-setting worked, and the scene was ultimately cut from the episode. Dennings shared the behind-the-scenes story to emphasize the importance of self-advocacy in the workplace, offering her followers the moral to never underestimate themselves.
